Playson is back with a new release, Solar Queen. This latest addition to their long list of slots is an Ancient Egypt-themed slot that features a queen of an ancient civilization.
Solar Queen has quite a large game area with 5x4 reels available and 20 active lines. This is not what most gamers would like to hear but the slot wins a lot of praise with its top payouts. Payments here can go to as high as 2,668x total stake which can end up to $266,800. There are several features to help you with this and some of them include multipliers, free spins, scatters and wilds as well as Flaming Frames.
Placing a bet here depends with an individual player and personally, my first bet was for $0.20. I was not sure what to expect and that’s why I decided to start with the lowest possible bet amount. Solar Queen allows bets of between $0.20 and $100.
Unfortunately, with Solar Queen, a player is not allowed to change any active lines. There are always 20 which make the total bet to be split between all of them.
The Solar Queen is the symbol that is stacked. It is also the symbol that pays a jackpot by offering you 10 xs total stake if you happen to cover all the lines with it.
The other way that you can get this type of reward is by achieving five wilds on a line. Solar Queen allows a player to use this as a substitute which is still useful even if you don’t receive any direct pay with it.
Another feature here is the Flaming Frames. This feature contains cycles that are activated each time you land on the Sun icon. It rewards a player with 10 spins and after you receive these 10, Solar Queen changes all the Flaming Frames into wild symbols. In addition to that any time the Sun shows up within an already active frame, this multiplier increases by 1x.
The usual scatters are also used, three of them on the first, third and fifth reels. With them appearing at the same time, you win 10 free spins. Sun icons are turned into wilds for this feature, becoming sticky. Any multipliers available from the Flaming Frames will be available during free spins as well.
Personally, I found the storyline very boring, well; most Ancient Egypt- themed slots are boring anyway. This is due to the monotony in the slots as they seem to revolve around the same storyline. In the case of Solar Queen, we are seeing more of a Cleopatra-style with the Queen surrounded by a few images of Egyptian gods (Anubis and Bastet). Additionally, there are symbols like the Royals and the background image of pyramids.
If you are looking for flashy graphics, then you will not enjoy Solar Queen as the theme and interface is not very interesting. However, there is a good side of this game and the features coupled with a nice pay-out make up for the “ugly” design.
